CONGRATULATIONS to the members of the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band on outstanding performances at the State Large Group Festival on Saturday hosted at Washington High School.
The Wind Symphony performed KHAN by Julie Giroux and Molly on the Shore by Percy Grainger. KHAN is a programmatic work depicting Genghis Khan and his army on the move and Molly on the Shore is an Irish Dance or Reel. The Symphonic Band performed a classic Sousa march, The Liberty Bell, and Gaelic Rhapsody by Elliot Del Borgo which weaves together many familiar and beautiful Irish melodies.
We have challenged the students to achieve excellence through the musical and technical demands of the programs as well as perform with passion, confidence, and focus. Both Mr. Allard and I are proud of the students’ growth and performance on the stage. The Wind Symphony earned a Division I Superior rating from all three judges and the Symphonic Band earned a Division II Excellent rating. This is the Wind Symphony’s 41st Division I rating in past 42 years.
Congratulations to the students!
